PROFILE:
"My interest in photography began as a boy, while using a Zenit-E camera with a 50mm lens. I bought it with the money I'd saved from my paper route and photographing my elementary school basketball team. Today, my passion is documentary photography, primarily in black & white. My subjects are the people on the streets around the world, the environment, discarded items left on sidewalks, anti-war rallies, even capturing my own children interacting in their world. I use many formats but the Holga camera has become the one that I find myself using more often than any other camera. The remarkable quality from this plastic camera is something one has to experience. From the title of my solo exhibition at A Studio Gallery, Before us All;
I wander looking for a scene that is in front of me and everyone else. As master photographer Garry Winogrand once said, Anything is Photographable."
Michael is a Charter member of 4260 Black & White Photographers Guild.
