PROFILE:

Mardjie was born in Den Haag, the Netherlands . When her family moved to Los Angeles , California , Mardjie’s love for photography grew. She built an entire darkroom in her home when she was seventeen years old. After majoring in photography in high school she continued her education at Pierce College where she met her husband Vince. Their dream of owning a custom black and white photo lab came true in 1989. A long time business association and friendship with Angela Cartwright manifested into another lifetime dream of opening a black and white gallery. On March 16th, 2003 , it became a reality: A Studio Gallery, which exhibits exclusively black and white photography, opened its doors in the front of Frank’s Custom Lab with Angela as curator.
Mardjie is a founding member of 4260 Black & White Photographers Guild.
