PROFILE:

Joe Forte is a professional screenwriter and filmmaker living in Los Angeles .   His most recent film, Firewall, stars Harrison Ford and Paul Bettany.   He received his visual arts education at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.

"I took my first black and white photo when I was fourteen years old and was instantly hooked by the sensation of capturing an image.   It has become a lifelong pursuit.
I almost always photograph the world that is immediately around me, specifically my own life: family, friends, travels, my neighborhood.   I try to capture my subjects as they are, and that often means spying.   This creates a relationship with my subject that is both intimate and distant, an effect which becomes inherent in the work.
Though I try to stay removed from the people and things I photograph, the joint themes of isolation, vulnerability and frailty seem to be the ones that I am consistently attracted to."
Joe is a charter member of the 4260 Black and White Photographers’ Guild.
